"We Didn't Learn Math This Way" is the book you've been waiting for.

“Is my child ready for kindergarten?”

Sure, this question is important. But here’s another crucial one: Are YOU ready for kindergarten?

Especially when it comes to kindergarten MATH?

As a mom of three, I can assure you—math is taught very differently now compared to when we were kids. Some concepts might sound familiar—like basic facts, units, and fractions—but they’re taught in completely new ways. And then there are the brand-new concepts: “Make a 10” strategies, number bonds, manipulatives, and algorithms that can make your head spin.

But here’s the good news: Math is still math. These new teaching methods aren’t rocket science—they’re just different. With a bit of effort, every parent can understand how kids are learning math today. And if you start this during your child’s first year of school, your investment will pay off for years to come.

So, ask yourself, “Are YOU ready for kindergarten math?” If your answer is anything less than a confident “Yes!”, we have just the resource you need.

“We Didn’t Learn Math This Way!” is a K-5 math guide written by exceptional math educators, published by the premier math publisher in the USA, and illustrated by me, your fellow math-confused parent.

If I can do it — YOU CAN DO IT!

Read me loud and clear—I AM THE ULTIMATE MATH-CONFUSED PARENT. I came into this project feeling so confused about how my kids were learning math at school. I even have my own section in the book called “Notes from a Confused Parent.”

As a kid who always loved art, I didn’t do well in math. As an adult, my poor math skills severely limited my options. So when my kids entered elementary school and it became clear that I had no idea how they were being taught, helping them develop math excellence suddenly seemed impossible.

But fortunately, I had the chance to illustrate “We Didn’t Learn Math This Way.” I was exactly the person the authors wanted to help, so they asked me to be an early reader. If I didn’t understand something, they simplified it. If I was confused about something in my kids’ homework that wasn’t in the book, they added it.

Now, I get how my kids are learning math in school. I can help them with their homework. I also realized that I wasn’t bad at math—I just wasn’t taught in a way that meshed with how my brain processes information.

But enough about me—this is about YOU. If I can understand my kids’ math homework, YOU can too. We’re all smart people! We’re all dedicated to our kids! We just need a little extra help catching up. Get started today by clicking below to get your copy of “We Didn’t Learn Math This Way!”

“We Didn’t Learn Math This Way!” was Written by Exceptional Math Educators

Want to bring top-flight math educators into your home, along with the premier publisher of math curriculum? You can! That’s the exact team behind this book.

You couldn’t ask for better guides in your family’s math journey than Peggy Golden and Tricia Salerno. These writers taught in classrooms for decades, helped develop and write some of the most-used math curricula in America, and spent years training teachers in the latest math methods.

Singapore Math, Inc. (SM) is the publisher behind “We Didn’t Learn Math This Way!” They are amazing. Dawn and Jeffrey Thomas started SM in the 1990s to fill gaps in their daughter’s math education. Since then, it has grown into a highly respected math education company that sells PK-5 math curricula in the Singapore Math Method.

This company was founded by parents passionate about their child’s math education—just like us!

I was blown away by how rigorous our team was. Between our writers and the math editors at Singapore Math, “We Didn’t Learn Math This Way!” went through more edits than I could keep track of. Many of my hand-drawn math graphics were sent back to me repeatedly until they were absolutely correct.

“We Didn’t Learn Math This Way!” was created by passionate math educators and parents. You can bring all that knowledge into your home today by purchasing a copy of this easy-to-use K-5 math guide.

So why did the authors ask a math-confused parent like me to work on a math reference guide?

Because I’m a children’s book illustrator! My job was to bring the fun with lots of cute, colorful cartoons. My focus is always to bring families together through creativity and laughter.

Some of my other projects include:

  • A ridiculously silly coloring book, “Unicorns Fart Rainbows” which you can learn more about HERE or purchase on Amazon HERE.

  • A crazy cool YOUTUBE CHANNEL where I post fun stuff for kids.

  • My BLOG, stuffed with free coloring pages, ideas for creative family projects, and info on kids’ art education.

  • My TEACHERS PAY TEACHERS account, where you can find lots of fun resources for the classroom, including some jazzy illustrated math guides!

As an artist running my small business, I know firsthand how important an excellent math education is. I also know that a bit of laughter can make a big difference when families tackle challenging things.

So grab a copy of “We Didn’t Learn Math This Way!”, enjoy all my funny cartoons, and take your kids’ math education to the next level!

Math at home doesn’t have to be frustrating!

Do you feel confused or even frustrated by your kids’ math homework?

If your answer is “yes,” I know exactly how you feel. I was so confused at one point that I stopped trying to help my kids at home altogether. It left me feeling helpless and out of touch.

But after working on “We Didn’t Learn Math This Way!”, I realized something important: Math isn’t being taught that differently. The methods used in today’s K-5 classrooms are simply more visual, relying on models to teach concepts. Gone are the days of relying on tips and tricks to solve problems without understanding the underlying math.

Once those basic changes start to make sense, everything begins to click! Now, when I come across a problem in my kids’ math homework that’s unfamiliar, I can usually puzzle it out.

Don’t let confusion keep you from being part of your kids’ math journey. This book was created just for you, by some of the best minds in math education today. Get your copy now and start making sense of your child’s math education!
